Japan's Mayuko Hagiwara outsprinted Zhao Na of China at the end to win the women's road cycling gold medal Monday at the Asian Games.

Hagiwara finished the race in three hours, six minutes and 10 seconds on Doha's 113.1-kilometer (70.3-mile) seaside Corniche course.

Zhao took silver with a time of 3:07:38, while Asian champion Han Song-hee claimed the bronze.

The winds that forced organizers to cut one lap off Sunday's men's race abated somewhat Monday, but were still gusting at 52 kph (84 mph).

Wong Kam Po won the men's race to earn Hong Kong's first gold medal.
