China takes men's air pistol team title

DOHA, December - Chinese marksmen shot down the 10m air pistol team gold here at the Lusail Shooting Complex on Sunday.

World Cup winner Tan Zongliang, Lin Zhongzai and Pang Wei totaled 1,744 points for China.

The South Korean team, led by Olympic silver medalist Jin Jong Oh, took the silver medal with 1,739 points. Vietnam was third on 1,730 points.

"Pang Wei is out of form today," said Wang Yifu, head coach of the Chinese rifle and pistol team.

Pang, the 20-year-old newly-crowned world champion, collected 574 points in the 60-shot qualification round, placed 14th.

It was China's seventh shooting gold medal at the Asiad as the Chinese sharpshooters made a clean sweep of the top podium on December 2, the first competition day after the opening ceremony.
