Two foreign players who have been sacked by Colombian soccer club America, from the city of Cali, said Wednesday they are considering taking the club to the sport's governing body, the International Association of Football Associations, over unpaid wages.

Chilean winger Pablo Galdames told media that he had agreed not to take the last two months wages, out of solidarity with a club that is facing severe financial problems, but said he would not leave Colombia until the remaining debt had been paid.

His colleague, Argentina's Santiago Rodriguez, said that both players said they will wait until Sunday, and then take legal action.

America is traditionally one of Colombia's top clubs, but has had to call up under-17 players in recent matches after sacking the worst-performing players.

The club has said that it will keep on its manager, Paraguay's Gerardo Gonzalez Aquino, and his coaching assistant Roberto Cabanas, for next season.

Separately, Baraquilla team Atletico Junior said it will sack eight players including Colombia's Ivan Rene Valenciano, Venezuela's Andres Rouga, Brazil's Cassiano Mendes and Argentina's Omar Perez.
