African basketball champions to reach Nigeria(Xinhua)Updated: 2006-11-16 09:46 ABC of Cote d'Ivoire, the defending champions of the Federation of International Basketball Africa Club Champions Cup, will arrive in Nigerian commercial capital Lagos on Wednesday. Alhaji Danladi Yaro, an official from organizing committee of the tournament, said the Ivorians would arrive at 10 p.m. (2100GMT) aboard an Ethiopian Airline. The 18-man team consisting of 12 players and six officials are to participate in the 21st Africa Champions Cup (final rounds) in Lagos from Nov. 17- 26, he said. Twelve clubs are to take part in the nine-day event, scheduled for the In-door Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos, he added. The teams, which will be grouped into two, include ESPN of South Africa, Kenya Commercial Bank, BACK of Guinea, Zenith of Cote d' Ivoire and Angola's Primero de Agosto and Petro Athletico. Others are Onatra of Congo DR, Inter-Club of Congo Brazaville and Africa Sports of Cote d'Ivoire.
