TOKYO, Nov 13 - Japan's Nippon Ham Fighters captured the Asia Series title with a 1-0 win over Taiwanese team La New Bears at the Tokyo Dome on Sunday.

The win gave Japan a second consecutive Asia crown after the Lotte Mariners triumphed in the inaugural event last year.

This year's tournament also featured South Korean championship winners Samsung Lions and a Chinese mainland All-Star team, China Stars.

Yu Darvish struck out 10 over seven impressive innings for Nippon while Shinya Tsuruoka delivered a run-scoring single in the seventh, bringing home Kuniyuki Kimoto to break the deadlock.

Darvish was named Most Valuable Player of the Asia Series.
