Spurs crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Reading on Sunday and lacked imagination in midfield which served only to feed specualation that the Londoners will bid for the Real Madrid star.

"If we do sign him then you can call me a liar because there is no truth in the rumours. We have Aaron Lennon and Wayne Routledge in that position and we don't need anyone else," Jol said.

Jol was left fuming at the performance of his Tottenham side on Sunday which came just a week after they had beaten champions Chelsea.

Jol was especially disappointed with Jermain Defoe who missed a glorious chance to equalise before Reading killed the game with their third goal.
