Reserve Arroyo lifts Magic over Wizards(AP)Updated: 2006-11-07 11:01 ORLANDO, Fla. - Reserve guard Carlos Arroyo scored 12 of his 23 points in the fourth quarter to lift the Orlando Magic to a 106-103 victory over the Washington Wizards on Monday night. Keyon Dooling, Orlando's other reserve guard, added 15 points and Hedo Turkoglu had 18 for the Magic, who had lost two in a row. Antawn Jamison had 29 points to lead Washington, which didn't score a field goal over the final 4:08. Gilbert Arenas had 24 points and Etan Thomas added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Wizards. The Wizards led 99-96 with 4:08 to play after a steal and layup by Jamison. The Magic then ran off nine straight points, seven by Arroyo, to go up 105-99 with 2:10 left. Washington cut it to 105-103 on two free throws from both Antonio Daniels and Arenas, but Caron Butler and Thomas missed shots in the final 10 seconds that could have tied the game. Keith Bogans made one free throw with 3.4 seconds left to give Orlando a 106-103 lead. Arenas missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer. Orlando's starters struggled with their ballhandling for the fourth straight game, turning the ball over 10 times in the first half, leading to 19 points for Washington. The Magic's reserves outscored the Wizards' bench 20-4. Arroyo had eight points as Orlando's reserves went 9-of-13 from the field to tie the game at 52 at halftime. Jamison hit two 3-pointers to spark a 10-0 run in the middle of the third quarter. Washington shot 62.5 percent for the quarter, but needed a 20-footer from Arenas at the buzzer to take an 83-81 lead into the final period. |
