Spaniard wins triathlon World Cup(Xinhua)Updated: 2006-11-06 09:20 After winning the final 10km run on Sunday, Spanish athlete Javier Gomez Noya won triathlon's World Cup, held in the Caribbean coast resort of Cancun, Mexico. The 23-year-old triathlete, a native of La Coruna town Ferrol, has become the first Spaniard to win this competition. He previously won the under-23 cup in 2003. Heading into the road race, Gomez Noya already had a 22-point lead over Australian rival Brad Kahlefeldt and a 34-point lead over United States rival Hunter Kemper. A triathlon is a 1.5 km swimming race, 40 km cycling race and 10 km run.
