Spaniard wins triathlon World Cup

After winning the final 10km run on Sunday, Spanish athlete Javier Gomez Noya won triathlon's World Cup, held in the Caribbean coast resort of Cancun, Mexico.

The 23-year-old triathlete, a native of La Coruna town Ferrol, has become the first Spaniard to win this competition. He previously won the under-23 cup in 2003.

Heading into the road race, Gomez Noya already had a 22-point lead over Australian rival Brad Kahlefeldt and a 34-point lead over United States rival Hunter Kemper.

A triathlon is a 1.5 km swimming race, 40 km cycling race and 10 km run.
