SAN ANTONIO - Spurs guard Tony Parker said Wednesday he hopes to play in the season opener at Dallas on Thursday after spraining his right ankle.

"It's pretty sore, pretty sore," Parker said. "But I think I'll be all right. I'll see how I feel tomorrow."

Parker injured his ankle during practice Monday, but X-rays showed it wasn't broken.

Parker, who said he practiced "a little bit" Wednesday, said he'll have to persuade coach Gregg Popovich to let him play against the Mavericks.

"If it feels good, I'll go. And if I feel a little bit of pain I'm not going to take any risks," Parker said.

The Spurs will face LeBron James and Cleveland in the home opener Friday night.
