Nepali climber killed in Mt. Annapurna avalanche

One Nepali Sherpa climber died in an avalanche on Mt. Annapurna, the mountaineering section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation said.

According to a Friday's report of a leading daily newspaper, The Himalayan Times, 25-year-old Lakpa Rita Sherpa died on Camp II, Annapurna peak on October 22.

Sherpa was part of Japan Expedition 2006, comprising four members.

The team was permitted to climb the 8,091-meter peak from the southern side within 75 days beginning September 29 under the leadership of Yamada Yoshichika of Japan.
