Both Inter and Roma dropped points on Sunday, leaving the top of the Serie A table increasingly congested with five teams now on 12 points. Inter were held to a goalless draw at Udinese, whilst Roma could only draw against Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico. Palermo and Mlian play in the late kick off.

UDINESE 0-0 INTER

Inter could only manage a point, but still remain top of Serie A, although a win for Palermo in the evening kick off against Milan could see the Nerazzurri lose top spot.

As is increasingly normal for Inter, the performance was littered with defensive lapses, and Roberto Mancini's side lacked bite up front.

Indeed, a defensive mix up between keeper Julio Cesar and Marco Materazzi nearly let the hosts in on 38 minutes, whilst from set pieces, the back four looked nervous at times.

Hernan Crespo ¨C who did not threaten during the first half ¨C was replaced by Julio Cruz just after the break, but the best chances of the afternoon fell to his strike partner Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who yet again failed to find the back of the net.

For Udinese, Antonio Di Natale could have scored just after the hour mark, but his effort flew just wide of the post.

The Bianconeri's point sees them move up into third on 12 points, and just three behind Inter.

ROMA 1-1 CHIEVO

Both sides had a number of half chances to break the deadlock at the Stadio Olimpico, with both Vincenzo Montella and Francesco Totti going close for the home side before Sergio Pellissier put the visitors ahead on 40 minutes. He beat Roma keeper Alexandre Doni to the long through ball, before evading Simone Perotta's challenge and rolling the shot into the empty net.

Roma came out really fired up in the second half, but found Chievo keeper Vincenzo Sicignano in fine form. Twice Chritian Panucci came close with headers before Francesco Totti finally levelled for the home side. Substitute David Pizarro shot was deflected straight to Roma's inspirational skipper who found the net from five yards out.

Substitute Simone Tiribocchi had a great chance at the death to win it but Doni made the save one on one.

FIORENTINA 3-0 REGGINA

Fiorentina looked good at the Stadio Artemio Franchi as they ran out 3-0 winners over fellow bottom of the table side Reggina.

The Viola opened the scoring just after the half hour mark with a superb individual effort from Adrian Mutu, the Romanian finding the top right hand corner with a thunderous effort from 25 yards to double his tally in a Fiorentina shirt.

Mario Santana then made it two before the half was out with a well taken finish to convert Manuel Pasqual's pull back from the by-line.

The hosts sealed the comprehensive win when Mutu turned provider to find Blasi's late run into the box, the midfielder finishing coolly to move the Viola onto level points with Reggina, albeit still in minus numbers.

ATALANTA 3-2 SAMPDORIA

A hectic first 11 minutes saw Sampdoria take a two goal lead thanks to a brace from Fabio Quagliarella. He battled hard to win the ball before firing home from the edge of the box to open the scoring on 4 minutes. His second was a delightful left footed chip that left Alex Calderoni absolutely helpless in the Atalanta goal.

Atalanta came back into things though after their poor start, and Cristiano Doni made it 2-1 from the penalty spot.

Atalanta completed a senasational comeback in the last ten minutes of the match. Substitute Nicola Ventola was felled in the box, allowing Doni the opportunity to level the scores.

Just a minute from time it was Riccardo Zampagna who grabbed the winner, outmuscling Giulio Falcone before lifting a well placed finish over Luca Castellazi.

CATANIA 3-1 LAZIO

After a slow start from both teams it was Catania who ended the first half in dominant fashion. First Andrea Sottil wasted a good headed chance before Lazio keeper Angelo Peruzzi pulled off a remarkable point blank save to deny Gionatha Spinesi.

The visitors couldn't hold out for much longer as first Giuseppe Colucci headed past Peruzzi and then Spinesi made it 2-0 on the stroke of half time.

Catania made it 3-0 shortly after the break as the ball fell to Colucci, who had the simplest of tasks in front of an open goal to grab his second of the game.

Lazio did manage to pull one back through Tommaso Rocchi, the striker pouncing on an errant back pass to reduce the deficit, but they couldn't muster more of a fightback and remain on -1 points.

PARMA 1-0 ASCOLI

This basement battle certainly didn't throw up too many goal scoring opportunites in the first half, but Igor Budan put the home side ahead as they searched for their first win of the season in Serie A. He was left completely free at the back post and calmly brought the ball down and calmly stroked home.

Chances continued to be few and far between in the second 45 but Parma did enough, keeping Ascoli at bay to grab a crucial three points.

LIVORNO 0-0 SIENA

In the Tuscan derby, neither side could break the deadlock, although both sides came close to bothering the scorekeepers.

Cristiano Lucarelli came closest for Livorno with just ten minutes remaining, only to see his far post header ruled out for offside.

Earlier Siena striker Mario Frick had a spectacular volley cancelled out, again for offside, as both teams struggled to make the breakthrough.

The point means both Siena and Livorno are amongst the five teams on 12 points, and still within striking distance of the leaders Inter.
