China, Kenya split Beijing Int'l Marathon titles

have split the women's and men's titles at the 2006 Beijing International
Marathon, held on Sunday.

long-distance runner Sun Weiwei was cheered on by home spectators as she won the
women's championship.
Sun stayed in the lead of the pack throughout the race, crossing the finish
line first at 2 hours 34 minutes and 41 seconds, 10 seconds faster than Kenya's
Chepchumba Pamela.
Another Chinese runner Chen Rong finished third with a time of 2:34.57.
In the men's competition, African powerhouse Kenya made a one-two finish in
the 42.195 kilometer race, followed by Japan, coming in third.
China's Ren Longyun finished eighth.
