RIGA -- Lithuanian national men's basketball team head coach Antanas Sireika denied reports on his resignation.

The Lithuanian national radio has reported that Sireika intends to participate at the meeting of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation' s executive committee on Thursday.

During the interview with the Lithuanian national TV channel's news service, the coach denied the reports in the press that claim him to have resigned from the position of the national team's head coach.

"That is only an idea I had. The letter was not a resignation of any kind. Can't people read letters? It does not say that I am resigning," Sireika said.

On Tuesday, the Lietuvos Rytas daily published a letter from Sireika, in which he says he sees the reaction and the players' comments and does not want to obstruct the work of the national team.

The coach has been criticized in public both by Arvydas Macijauskas and the biggest Lithuanian basketball star of lately, Sarunas Jasikevicius.
