OAKLAND, California - Patrick O'Bryant's first NBA season got off on the wrong foot.

The Golden State Warriors announced Thursday that O'Bryant, their rookie center, broke his right foot and will be sidelined for at least four weeks.

The ninth overall pick in the June draft, O'Bryant suffered the injury during a scrimmage in Las Vegas last week. No surgery is required for the 7-footer, who is wearing a immobilizing boot.

The Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year, O'Bryant turned pro following a sophomore season at Bradley in which he averaged 13.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. He became the highest drafted Brave behind Hershey Hawkins, who was picked sixth by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1988.

O'Bryant came into the national consciousness during Bradley's run to the regionals semifinals of the NCAA Tournament, averaging 14.7 points and 10.3 rebounds against Kansas, Pittsburgh and Memphis.
