TOKYO, September 5 -- NBA All-star Kobe Bryant attended a 90-minute clinic with Japanese school children on Monday in the first stop of his Asian tour in Tokyo, the Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper reported Tuesday.

Kobe coached some 170 school children at an outdoor court in Yoyogi Park. The 28-year-old Los Angeles Lakers superstar will also visit China's Hong Kong and Taiwan, South Korea and China's mainland in his eight-day tour sponsored by Nike.

Kobe, who sat out of the two-week FIBA World Championship, is recovering from arthroscopic surgery in July on his right knee.
