NZL - Pair ponder their futures (fiba.com) Updated: 2006-08-29 10:22 TOKYO (FIBA World
Championship) - New Zealand veterans Phill Jones and Pero Cameron have delayed
decisions over their international future. Coach Tab Baldwin left the Tall
Blacks after their FIBA World Championship defeat to Argentina.
Captain Cameron and experienced forward Jones, both 32, have ruled out
immediate decisions.
Cameron told The Press: "As individuals we will go away and assess what we
want to do and when the time comes for the squad to get together we will know by
then.
"We could be rebuilding or it could still be an experienced team. I guess
that also will be up to the new coach."
Jones reflected on the tournament, adding: "I had a tough tournament and
didn't play well and didn't shoot well but that's life. You can't score all the
time.
"I felt better out there. I don't know what it has been but the shots just
haven't been dropping. I definitely don't want to go out like that."
Meanwhile, New Zealand Breakers assistant coach John Dorge, will take charge
of the North Harbour NBL team next year.
Harbour Basketball chief executive John Hunt said: "He is regarded as one of
the top coaches of post play anywhere in the world and is a skilled tactician of
the game."
Dorge, who represented Australia at the 1992 and 1996 Olympics, was formerly
an individual skills coach with the Chicago Bulls.
