Nocioni leads Argentina past Nigeria (Reuters) Updated: 2006-08-23 15:30
Andres Nocioni dispelled any concerns about his fitness with a game-high 23
points as Olympic champions Argentina rolled to a 98-64 win over Nigeria at the
world championships on Wednesday.
Nocioni was a doubt after twisting his knee against Venezuela on Monday, but
the Chicago Bulls forward looked in top shape as Argentina moved to 4-0 and top
of Group A.
After opening the championships with a narrow win over France, the South
Americans have registered three consecutive victories by at least 30 points.
Nigeria was no match for the Olympic gold medallists, who led 41-30 at the
intermission and continued to pull away in the second half.
San Antonio Spurs Manu Ginobili continued his strong play with 20 points
while Luis Scola chipped in with 12.
Gabe Muoneke was the only Nigerian player to hit double figures, scoring 10
points.
