Herrmann, who has 48 points in Argentina's last two wins here, said he hopes to nail a one-year deal before the end of the August 19 to September 3 world championship.

Herrmann said Tuesday that he hoped to get the signing done before the end of the championship and Bobcats would give him a physical sometime soon, and the deal would be finalized after that.

Herrmann, who plays in the Spanish league, scored 25 points as Argentina beat Venezuela 96-54 on Monday to improve to 3-0. A day earlier, he had 23 points in a 107-72 win over Lebanon.

With Chicago Bulls forward Andres Nocioni seeing limited playing time because of a sore ankle, Herrmann has seized the opportunity to showcase his talent.

Herrmann played for Charlotte this season in the Orlando Summer League. He said his experience there and in the Spanish leagues should prepare him for a career in the NBA.
