CHARLOTTE, United States - Jake Voskuhl was signed to a new contract with the Charlotte Bobcats, the National Basketball Association club electing to keep him as a backup big man.

Slovenia's Primoz Brezec is the club's top center, but Voskuhl contributed 5.3 points and 3.6 rebounds in 51 games for Charlotte after being obtained from Phoenix a year ago.

"Bringing Jake back to the team provides experienced depth at the center position," said Bobcats' coach and general manager Bernie Bickerstaff. "Jake has been a solid contributor for us on both ends of the court."

A second-round pick of the Chicago Bulls in 2000, Voskuhl played in just 16 games as a rookie. He spent the next four seasons with Phoenix.

Voskuhl, 28, scored a season-high 18 points in a March 18 game against Detroit and grabbed a season-high 12 rebounds in a game against Cleveland on January 30.
