China and Spain on Friday vowed to step up their cooperation on hosting Olympic Games.

"It is very important for us to learn from the successful experience of the past Olympic Games, including the wonderful 1992 Barcelona Games," Liu Qi, chairman of the Beijing Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG), told visiting Spanish Crown Prince Felipe de Borbon y Grecia.

In recent years, China and Spain have been keeping a sound momentum of development with continuous high-level visits and exchanges, said Liu, also member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

"In particular, the two countries have promoted bilateral ties in politics, economy, culture and sports," Liu said.

Reviewing his visits to Barcelona for Olympic experience, Liu said he hoped the preparation of the Beijing Olympic Games could boost Sino-Spanish cooperation in various fields.

The recruitment and training of Beijing Olympic volunteers will start next month, Liu said, adding young people from Spain and other countries are welcomed.

Spanish Crown Prince Felipe de Borbon y Grecia said the progress in the preparation of the Beijing Olympic Games is "delighting."

Spain would like to share the successful experience on holding the Games with China, he said.

The Spanish Crown Prince is on an official visit to China at the invitation of Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong.
