Costa Rica soccer forward Paulo Cesar Wanchope has settled the terms and conditions for joining Rosario Central, Pablo Scarabino, president of the Argentine club, told Rosario newspaper La Capital on Thursday.

Wanchope agree a two-year contract with Rosario during a Wednesday night meeting following an approach by Horacio Carbonari, who coaches Rosario after having been a player there. Carbonari and Wanchope first met when both were playing for English club Derby County.

He agreed terms at a meeting attended by Mauricio Wright, who like Wanchope is a former Costa Rica national team player; businessman Adrian Gau; and Carbonari.

Wanchope, known as "the cobra", who will turn 30 on July 31, had also been approached by Brazil club Corinthians and an Italian team.

"We are very happy to be able to achieve the incorporation of Wanchope. We reached this deal thanks to Carborani's management and we can now count on a great resource," Scarabino said.

Wanchope scored two goals against Germany during the Costa Rican national team's World Cup campaign, and has played for a number of important clubs across the world.

Rosario, managed by Leonardo Astrada, a former River player, is one of two major teams in the city of Rosario. The other team is Newell's Old Boys.
