With defender Carlos Salcido's signing by Dutch soccer team PSV Eindhoven, Mexico now has six players in Europe, an unusually large number for a country that has exported a total of 30 players in six decades, local media reported on Tuesday.

Mexico has exported three players to Europe in the weeks following the national team's exit from the World Cup finals, booted by Argentina in its first second phase game. Salcido signed for PSV for four seasons and four million euros, while defender Ricardo Osorio and winger Pavel Pardo both signed for German league team Stuttgart.

Three national team players already play in Europe: defender Rafael Marquez at Barcelona and forward Guillermo Franco with Villareal -- both in the Spanish league; and forward Jared Borghetti for English league team Bolton.

Mexico first had exported a player to Europe in 1934, when Luis "Pirata" (The Pirate) de la Fuente signed with Spain's Racing Santander. It last had six players in Europe in 1986.
