Zimbabwe ready for 2010 World Cup business (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-07-07 09:22
Zimbabwe has the ability and skill to successfully handle and accommodate
business from South Africa during the 2010 World Cup, a minister said on
Thursday.
Zimbabwe's sound trading partnerships with South Africa further increased the
country's confidence in hosting some businesses during and after the World Cup,
said Environment and Tourism Minister Francis Nhema said on Thursday.
"We have already played host to a number of regional and international
summits like the Non-Aligned Movement Summit and the Miss Tourism World pageant.
Therefore, Zimbabwe has the capability and ability to successfully handle and
accommodate business from South Africa during the 2010 World Cup," he said.
Nhema told a one-day seminar here that Zimbabwe's unique natural and cultural
attractions and its friendly people should inspire the nation to market itself
to countries that will take part in the 2010 tournament.
Well-developed infrastructure and relatively good communication systems than
other regional states could be another strong marketing points for Zimbabwe, he
said.
Nhema also urged relevant authorities to work together in making the 2010
World Cup strategy a success.
