According to PAP news agency Poland's Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz on Monday asked the authorities of the Polish Football Association (PZPN) to publicize its budget.

The Polish Fiscal Control Bureau and the Sport Ministry started a probe at PZPN on Monday.

Following a meeting with Ministers of Finance Pawel Wojciechowski and Sport Tomasz Lipiec Marcinkiewicz told a joint press conference that all these moves were designed to fix the situation in the association.

"I am appealing to PZPN authorities to publicize its budget. It is a common practice in many other unions and public institutions, " the PM said.

Marcinkiewicz pledged the investigation "will have no negative impact" on Poland's joint bid with neighbouring Ukraine to host the 2012 European championship.

Polish Sport Minister Tomasz Lipiec said the control, to be conducted by his ministry, was meant to check whether PZPN board's work was in agreement with the association statutes.

"I am glad that this control will be held together with the one conducted by the Fiscal Control Bureau as it will be more effective, " Lipiec said.

"PZPN is a receiver also of public funds. The control is to verify tax statements,"Polish Finance Minister Wojciechowski said.
