HANOVER, Germany - Patrick Vieira believes France has what it takes to beat defending champion Brazil.

And that's who Les Bleus will face in the quarterfinals of the World Cup on Saturday. It is a rematch of the 1998 World Cup finals - a 3-0 win for France.

"We are still far from the final and we don't set ourselves targets but this team can achieve a lot more," Vieira said.

France advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Spain on Tuesday.

Vieira scored the crucial second goal against Spain before Zinedine Zidane, who like Vieira is a member of the 1998 team, added a third goal in the final seconds to secure victory for coach Raymond Domenech's team.

Vieira also starred in the 2-0 Group G win over Togo that moved France into the knockout round.

"People have great expectations of this team," Vieira said. "We have worked very hard and the team will continue to improve with every game we play. We must improve because every match is a different game and the important thing is that we keep believing in ourselves."
