Soccer fans have to get through two days of withdrawal before the games resume on Friday. Next up are the quarterfinals with Germany facing Argentina and Italy taking on Ukraine on Friday. Saturday's games are England vs. Portugal and Brazil against France.

France and Brazil won's Tuesday's games to claim the final two spots in the quarterfinals.

France scored two late goals to give the 1998 champions a spot in the World Cup quarterfinals with a 3-1 win over Spain.

David Villa had scored from the penalty spot in the 27th minute to give Spain the lead before Franck Ribery ran around goalkeeper Iker Casillas to equalize with a left-foot shot in the 41st.

Patrick Vieira made it 2-1 in the 83rd minute and Zinedine Zidane scored the third in injury time.

Zidane, who will retire after the World Cup ends, took the free kick which made the difference.

His shot curled into the goalmouth, where a frantic Xabi Alonso headed it into the path of Vieira, who then headed it into the net off a deflection.

In Tuesday's early game, Ronaldo scored his record 15th World Cup goal, and Adriano and Ze Roberto added two more to give Brazil a 3-0 win over Ghana and a spot in the quarterfinals.

Ronaldo became the tournament's all-time leading scorer in the fifth minute when he scored after a brilliant step-over that beat a defender and then Ghana goalkeeper Richard Kingson. The striker broke the offside trap near midfield after a perfectly timed pass from midfielder Kaka.

Adriano added to Brazil's lead in a breakaway in first-half injury time, using his left thigh to complete a right-flank cross from captain Cafu. Defender Lucio started the play at midfield, giving the ball to Kaka, who then found Cafu on the right side.

Replays showed Adriano appeared to be offside when he touched the ball into the net. Fans heavily booed when the big screen at the stadium showed the replay.
