Police in the southern Chinese gambling enclave of Macau have seized 200 million Hong Kong dollars (US$25.7 million; euro20.5 million) in World Cup soccer betting slips from an illegal betting operation, a news report said Wednesday.

Hong Kong's government-owned radio RTHK said police arrested six men and one woman who allegedly belong to a Hong Kong triad gang, and seized computers, accounting books and nearly 600,000 Hong Kong dollars (US$77,250; euro61,460) in cash.

It wasn't immediately clear if the suspects were charged.

A Macau police spokesman didn't immediately return a reporter's call seeking confirmation of the report.

The seizures came after Macau police reportedly seized more than US$12 million (euro9.55 million) in illegal soccer betting slips Saturday from another Hong Kong gangster-controlled operation.
