dedicated a wide space to issues related to the Cup, carrying on the cover a
photo of the national squad with the headline "It was worth Palancas" in
capitals.
The only Angolan daily paper mentioned a congratulation message from the
ruling MPLA party and the feat of Cote d'Ivoire that beat Serbia and Montenegro
3-2 from two goals down.
Inside, eight pages covered the national squad with the environment enjoyed
before, during and after the game, both in Germany and Angola.
The paper said Angolan tourists spent about 2.0 million Euros on shopping,
adding that an Angolan was elected supporter of the game with Iran.
In its turn, the State-run "Radio Nacional de Angola" sports reporting
channel "Radio-5" promoted a talk from Germany, whose main theme was the 1-1
draw with Iran.
A new paper named "Mais Futebal" has emerged over the country's participation
in the World Cup, having mainly focused on the national team of football.
Angola was eliminated from the Germany 2006 World Cup after losing 0-1 to
Portugal in the debut match, and drawing 0-0 and 1-1 with Mexico and Iran
respectively.
