Rebrov doubled the score with a stunning 35-yard shot into the top corner in the 36th minute, as Saudi goalkeeper Mabrouk Zayed flailed on the slippery wet grass.

But Shevchenko got his turn, taking the wind out of Saudi Arabia's sails with a goal barely 30 seconds into the second half, with a header from Kalinichenko's long free kick.

Kalinichenko, who plays for Spartak Moskow, netted his own after a pass from Shevchenko to end the scoring.

"I'm not willing to speak about my own role," Kalinichenko said. "This is a team game and I'm very proud to be a part of this team. It's important not to speak just about the players who scored the goals. We are a unit and the entire team contributed to the victory.

"The whole team won. I'm proud to have received this award, but for me this just proves that Ukraine was the better side."
