MUNICH, June 1 - Brazil striker Adriano explained his side's cradle-rocking celebration routine after he struck the first goal in their World Cup 2-0 victory over Australia in Group F on Sunday.

"I'm very happy to have scored my first goal at the World Cup and I dedicate it to my son," he told reporters.

Adriano Junior was born in Rio de Janeiro on Friday and so far Adriano has only seen him in photos sent by e-mail.

The Inter Milan player, who has not looked at his best at the tournament, was joined by his team mates in the joyful celebration after his 49th minute goal.

Meanwhile, substitute striker Fred, who scored his first competitive goal almost immediately after replacing Adriano, tried to take the ball home for his father.

Fred took the ball off the pitch and to the dressing-room before officials told him to give it back.

"I'm very happy with this goal, I've fulfilled a dream, it was a moment of total euphoria," he said.
