Sweden's Larsson only has eyes for England (Reuters) Updated: 2006-06-19 09:02
BREMEN, Germany, June 18 - Beating England is the only thing on Henrik
Larsson's mind, said the Sweden striker ahead of Tuesday's World Cup Group B
game between the teams.
Despite the best efforts of journalists on Sunday, a focused Larsson refused
to be drawn on the subject of who Sweden might face in the second round if they
qualified.
"Beating England is all that matters at the moment," said Larsson.
"Getting through the group stage is the only thing that matters and to be
certain of that we need to get a result against England."
Sweden need a draw to reach the second phase.
A defeat for the Swedes and a win for Trinidad & Tobago over Paraguay
would mean the Scandinavians and the Caribbean team having to be separated by
goal difference.
The top two in the group will face hosts Germany or Ecuador in the last 16.
"I don't think about Germany or anything like that," said the 34-year-old
Larsson. "We just think about England and how to beat them."
