He was be able to train once Sunday under painkillers.

"His recovery is not taking an expected course," Fousek said. "He still feels pain when he's running."

Baros was taken with Koller to Dortmund for examination, Fousek said.

"We've tried everything."

Coach Karel Bruckner expressed optimism, saying "there's still hope" that Baros might make the second game against Ghana on Saturday.

"We're unlikely to have an ideal lineup," he said. "We have to cope with that."

Koller started the game against the United States as the lone striker before he was replaced by Vratislav Lokvenc. If Baros is not available Saturday, Bruckner could use Hannover forward Jiri Stajner up front, or again opt for a lone striker in Lokvenc.

After a light training Tuesday, captain Tomas Galasek said his team was likely to beat Ghana.

"They have great players ... but if the Italians managed to overcome them, I think we're able to do the same," he said.
