Cocu, Sneijder, Van Bronckhorst added to Dutch injury list

ROTTERDAM, Netherlands _ The Netherlands added three key players to its injury list Sunday after a bruising 1-1 warmup draw against Australia.

Starting midfielder Wesley Sneijder and defender Giovanni van Bronckhorst each injured ankles and were quickly substituted during the game. Veteran midfielder Phillip Cocu hurt his thigh and was sidelined late in the first half.

Netherlands coach Marco van Basten said it was too early to say whether the injuries would affect the players' chances of playing in the teams' opening World Cup game against Serbia-Montenegro next Sunday.

"It is tough to assess their situation at this stage," he said.

Van Basten will also decide Wednesday whether to replace creative midfielder Rafael van der Vaart, who is struggling to come back from an ankle injury.
