Thirty-three Czech police officers will travel to Germany next week to help out their German counterparts during the World Cup.

Police spokeswoman Petra Srnkova said Thursday that the request was made by German police.

The officers are expected to help guard the border, as well as train stations and airports, along with German officers, but also will be available to assist Czech fans if needed.

Srnkova said about 20,000 Czechs have bought tickets to watch the national team at the World Cup, but police expect the actual number to be much higher.

The Czechs are in Group E with the United States, Ghana and Italy.
