LISBON, May 30 - A Portuguese parliamentary debate about military reform on June 21 will be brought forward by five hours so deputies can watch a World Cup match against Mexico.

Parliamentary leaders decided unanimously on Tuesday to change the start time of the debate to 0900 GMT from 1400, a spokesman for the ruling Socialists said.

"I prefer one effective parliamentary session in the morning than have a session with six deputies in the afternoon," one deputy said.

Portugal face Angola, Mexico and Iran in Group D of the World Cup finals in Germany starting on June 9.
