The Chinese embassy and consulates in Germany have set up emergency task forces to protect Chinese workers, travelers and football fans from riots and violence while watching the forthcoming World Cup matches, the Wenhui Daily said today.

The task forces will mainly handle emergencies, such as injuries caused by accidents or violence, during the event.

The task forces will also give aid to Chinese citizens if they lose their identity cards, including their passports.

The Chinese Embassy in Germany's capital city of Berlin and the consulates in Munich and Frankfurt have all formed World Cup task forces. They will take responsibility for the problems in their own regions, with the embassy heading the mission.

The embassy and consulates also opened more emergency telephone hotlines, and promised to have some staff members available 24 hours.
