(BEIJING, May 10) -- The new China Science and Technology Museum broke ground on Tuesday, to offer one more popular science education facility to Beijingers.

Expected to cover an area of 100,000 square meters and located in the Olympic Green, the most centralized area of Olympic venues, the new museum will boast of the largest astrovision theater in China.

The first science and technology museum in Beijing was opened in 1988, receiving some eight million visitors so far. The new facility is scheduled to be completed before the Beijing Olympic Games starts on August 8, 2008. Part of the museum will be opened during the Games and full opening is planned for 2009.
