Xie appeared more determined than Zhang after finishing her match in 38 minutes.

"We came here to win the Uber Cup and Thomas Cup. It's the same even if we have to play in the 21-point system. We are determined to win the Cups," said Xie.

Audina was relieved that her team defeated Taiwan 3-0 and she did not need to play a doubles since she had a bad cold last week.

"I still feel tired, but I did what I could do at this moment," said Audina after the 39-minute match against Cheng.

Audina said sweet memories are still fresh that she defeated Zhang to win the 1994 Uber Cup for Indonesia when she was 14 years old.

"It's something special for me that we won the Uber Cup in Jakarta in 1994. It's important to compete for the Uber Cup in Jakarta," said Audina.

"I hope people remember my performe at that time, so that they will remind my play when we will compete in the next Uber Cup again in Jakarta," added Audina.

Meulendijks admitted China are favourites, saying: "It's very tough, China is still a big favourite, they have big names, of course, we'll try our best to win matches, or win games or whatever."

"I think China is still a big favourite to win the final. But we are happy to get to the final. we have nothing to lose. we just go for it 100 percent," she added.
