CORKS POPPED
Even before the final whistle, corks were popping above the Chelsea dugout
and Mourinho and his assistants were showered with champagne. Owner Roman
Abramovich, whose oil billions rescued the club from near bankruptcy two years
ago, beamed from the directors' box.
Mourinho grabbed a Portugal scarf from a fan in the crowd and swapped it for
his more sober black one.
Former Chelsea captain Ron Harris and winger Charlie Cooke from the cup
winning side of the 1970s brought the trophy to the centre to be handed to
Terry.
Blue and white streamers and chants of "stand up for the champions" greeted
the presentation.
Mourinho, joining his side a the start of their noisy lap of honour, flung
his medal into the crowd in a gesture of appreciation and there was a wild
scramble to retrieve it.
