Hungarian team to 2008 Beijing Olympics cut by half (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-04-07 15:58
The Hungarian Olympic Committee (MOB) has invited sports federations and
clubs to nominate fewer athletes to the national team for the 2008 Olympic Games
in Beijing in order to tighten up standards, the local media reported Wednesday.
The MOB said the aim of its new policy of cutting the size of the team by
around half to 448 athletes from 900 was to provide efficient funding for
training those athletes who have the best chance of
winning.
