Hall of Supreme Harmony in facelift Updated: 2006-04-07 14:44

Workers walk past the Hall of Supreme Harmony at the heart of the
Forbidden City in Beijing March 29, 2006. The palace is going through its first
facelift in three centuries. Commonly known as the Jinluan Palace, it housed
significant events like the crowning of emperors and the declaration of wars
during the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties and thus, had the
greatest political importance of all buildings in the royal complex, China Daily
