NEW YORK: Philadelphia 76ers all-star guard Allen Iverson, the NBA's
second-leading scorer, could miss the team's next four games with a foot injury,
the 76ers said on their website.
Iverson was injured during Sunday's game at Memphis. An examination on Monday
revealed Iverson had suffered a sprain and bruising of the right foot.
Iverson, who is averaging 33.2 points per game, will not play in the 76ers'
game with the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday and is doubtful for road games against
Seattle, the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State, the 76ers said in a
statement.
Bobcats lose star Okafor for rest of season
CHARLOTTE, North Carolina: Charlotte Bobcats forward Emeka Okafor will miss
the remainder of the National Basketball Association (NBA) season with the
sprained right ankle that has sidelined him nearly two months.
The club announced Tuesday that Okafor, last year's NBA Rookie of the Year,
must wear a soft cast on the ankle for the next four to six weeks.
The Bobcats are 8-18 when Okafor is in the line-up and 10-28 this season when
he is absent, their overall 18-46 mark second-worst in the NBA.
Okafor suffered the injury December 19 against Sacramento and sat out eight
games before returning January 10 against Houston, where he played 35 minutes
before aggravating the injury.
