Let 'Good Times' roll
(China Daily)
Updated: 2009-10-30 10:51
A young woman enjoys time to herself in a private space. She reads a book, sips a cup of coffee and prays on the bed. The woman smiles and relishes her calm life. Such are the scenes created in Chinese-Australian artist Chi Zhansui's solo sculpture exhibition Good Times. The series is meant to portray a woman's perspective on the joys of life. Artistic modernity and a womanly touch define Chi's unique style. After graduating from Guangzhou Institute of Art with a major in plate printing, Chi moved to Australia in 1987 to continue her education. She has traveled extensively over the past few decades, drawing inspiration from different art forms and culture around the world. Her creations include engravings, oil paintings and watercolor works. In 2006, she shifted to sculpture and communicates her life experiences with her Good Times series. The Australian-owned Sanicki Beijing is a newly opened 300-sq-m gallery. 10 am-6 pm, Oct 31-Dec 12 except Monday Sanicki Beijing Gallery, 706 North Three Street, 798 Art Zone, 2 Jiuxianqiao Lu, Chaoyang district |
