Hilton 'angers activists with pig adoption'

Paris Hilton has been blasted by animal rights campaigners for treating her pets like "disposable accessories".

The star announced on Friday that she is adopting a pot-bellied pig named Princess Piglette after ordering the Royal Dandie from a breeder in Oregon.

Her representative told TMZ: "Paris is thrilled! She is a major animal lover and is excited for the arrival of her new piglet."

However, Hilton has angered activists at People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, who branded the 28-year-old a "wretched example" to her young fans for handling pets as if they are "as disposable as her friends".

A PETA spokesperson added: "The Chihuahuas, ferrets and kinkajous she's paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren't either."
