Paris Hilton has been blasted by animal rights campaigners for treating her pets like "disposable accessories". The star announced on Friday that she is adopting a pot-bellied pig named Princess Piglette after ordering the Royal Dandie from a breeder in Oregon. Her representative told TMZ: "Paris is thrilled! She is a major animal lover and is excited for the arrival of her new piglet." However, Hilton has angered activists at People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals, who branded the 28-year-old a "wretched example" to her young fans for handling pets as if they are "as disposable as her friends". A PETA spokesperson added: "The Chihuahuas, ferrets and kinkajous she's paraded through her home in the past were not accessories, and pot-bellied pigs aren't either." |
