Popular comedian shows up in Zhang Yimou's filming set

Comedian Xiao Shenyang appears on the filming set of Zhang Yimou's upcoming film. (tag 1 and 3, Xiao Shenyang; tag 3, Zhang Yimou) Hit comedian Xiao Shenyang, who shot to fame with his debut performance at CCTV's 2009 new year gala, was caught by media for the first time along with director Zhang Yimou on the filming set of Zhang's new project.

The film, said to be a thriller comedy, is Zhang Yimou's first production after year 2008 when he was occupied with the mission of directing the grand opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Game.

Named "San Qiang Pai An Jing Qi", (literally translated as "The Shock of Three Gunshots"), the fictive storyline is set in some desert area during a far-back period, and it's Zhang Yimou's first-ever commercial comedy.

Besides Xiao Shenyang, the movie also stars top Chinese actor Sun Honglei.

The comedy is slated for release in the year-end film season of 2009.
