It appears a Hong Kong beauty contest winner has refuted scientist Richard Dawkins' "selfish gene" theory. Michelle Reis (pictured) isn't keen on passing on her chromosomes, according to a story at enjoy.eastday.com. The Asian entertainment website quotes the 1988 Miss HK Pageant winner as saying she doesn't want a baby, despite marrying business tycoon Julian Hui late last year.
The actress says she is trying to avoid getting pregnant. Asked what her husband thought of this, she claims she hasn't spoken to him about it but if he insists on having a child she is determined to hire a surrogate mother, preferably a Hong Konger. Apparently, she's not the "mothering type" and is worried a kid would create havoc in her perfectly arranged life/house.
Abroad, the biggest breaking news is not swine fever, it's R 'n' B singer Rihanna's feud with ex-boyfriend Chris Brown (picturred), who denies that he's the fiend who uploaded naked photos of the Good Girl Gone Bad singer.
"This is both a false and defamatory statement," a spokesman for Brown told Essence.com. "Chris has not released or 'leaked' any photos of Rihanna (or anyone else for that matter)."
Keen to join the fray is Charlene Choi (pictured), who was promoting instant spaghetti at an event in Hong Kong this week when she felt impelled to weigh in with her views on the scandal. According to an Asianfanatics report, the former singer in pop group Twins told reporters that men who beat up their girlfriends or post their pictures on the Internet are "evil".
This is only interesting because her former singing partner in Twins was Gillian Chung, who had to leave the group after photos of her "performing" with Edison Chen were uploaded on the Net, causing a sex scandal.
Finally, a teen known as "Shirley" whose fondest wish is to buy a private jet but who gets dizzy as soon as she steps on a plane, has become a star. "Airsick Girl's" blog, replete with fuzzy photos of her sucking lemons, has become the latest Internet sensation, according to Vodone.
