Jessica Alba has found the perfect way to beat an actor's strike by signing on to star in a Broadway production next year.

Alba told U.S. morning TV show Live with Regis and Kelly that she doesn't want to be out of work when the actor's strike happens in June 2008, and is now in talks to star in David Mamet's 'Speed-the-Plow'.

If she gets the part, Alba will play Karen, a role debuted on the New York stage in 1998 by Madonna.

"I have been asked. It's perfect timing because of the strike. There might be an actor's strike in June. So if they don't resolve, I can do theatre," Contactmusic quoted her, as telling her hosts.

The star is currently busy house hunting in the Big Apple after being bitten by the 'New York bug' following for her new film 'Awake in Harlem'.
