Bateman joins Pitt and Norton in "State of Play"

Jason Bateman will be joining Brad Pitt and Edward Norton in "State of Play".

Helming the Universal Pictures' adaptation of the British miniseries will be 'Last King of Scotland' director Kevin Macdonald.

The movie will see Norton playing a congressman whose speedy political rise is threatened by an investigation into the death of his mistress.

Pitt will be playing the role of a politico-turned-journalist whose relationship with the solon is compromised when he oversees his newspaper's investigation into the murder and develops a relationship with the politician's estranged wife.

This will be the second time the duo work together after their 1999 hit movie 'Fight Club'.

The script for the pic has been written by Matthew Michael Carnahan, reports Variety.

Filming is due to start in November start.

Andrew Hauptman will produce with Working Title partners Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.

Paul Abbott, who wrote the six hour mini, is on as executive producer.
