Two years after his last New Year blockbuster, veteran director Feng Xiaogang is back on the scene with a new war epic called "Ji Jie Hao." A former soldier himself, Feng Xiaogang says he's tried to tell a different story to most war movies, a story about responsibility. He has avoided casting an all-star line up to show how sincere he is. He says he picked good, low-profile actors for his movie because he didn't want his audience distracted by lots of big names. When Feng Xiaogang and his production team met the media in Beijing on Monday, the director announced his new film will hit the big screen on December 20. His film will compete with "A Hope" by Stephen Chow and "The Warlords" by Peter Chan but Feng Xiaogang says that's a good thing because it gives movie-goers more options. Wang Zhongjun from Huayi Brothers, the film's major investor, says they hope the film will make 150 million yuan at the box office. |
