Some 70 journalists from various media outlets met with local government officials in Foshan on June 7 to hear about the city's innovation-driven intelligent manufacturing industry.

Foshan, a major manufacturing base city in Guangdong province, has rapidly grown in industry and economic.

"Foshan leads Guangdong in manufacturing, but there is still room for improvements, which can only be realized through innovation," said Zhu Wei, mayor of Foshan.

The city's established industrial cluster has acquired a dominant position in machinery equipment, ceramic materials, textiles, household electric appliances and metal products.

Some of the local emerging enterprises such as Jaten Robot and E-Deodar, two enterprises the journalists paid visit on the day and had deep impression of the latest technology.

The tour was sponsored by the Guangdong Publicity Department, Guangdong Internet Network Information Office, and hosted by State-owned news agency Xinhua.
